Real Madrid vs Lyon: Ronaldo Expected To Play
Today’s Real Madrid vs Lyon match represents a huge psychological barrier to Mourinho’s men. When they met last year in the same stage of the competition, a win in France and a draw at the Bernabeu gave Lyon a spot in the quarterfinals. They also were placed in the same Champions League group in 2008 and 2006 and both times Lyon was able to win at home and get the draw in Spain.

Lyon have been struggling this season all around. They lie in third place in the French league and even in the Champions League, they haven’t looked like giant killers of the past. In their 3 matches away, they’ve lost 2 and won 1. Unless they can keep a clean sheet against Real Madrid, which is unlikely, they will be left with the tough task of having to hand Jose Mourinho’s team a loss at home – something that has yet to happen this season.
Mourinho has remained coy on the status of Cristiano Ronaldo following his thigh injury, but it’s expected that their 80 million pound star will grace the pitch.
